The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs at its semi-annual drug take back event on Saturday. The State Department of Labor announced with the legalization of recreational marijuana employers are no longer permitted to test workers for pot. This also employs for prospective employees. The Norwich Common Council decides to postpone voting on allowing marijuana dispensaries to operate within city limits. According to published reports the council is favoring approval of pot sales but making on-site consumption illegal. Under state law municipalities have to opt-in or out on sales and consumption by the end of the year. Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl announces he will not run for re-election in 2023. Muehl tells WKTV the state’s criminal justice reform laws made him decide to leave after his current term ends. He says while he saw changes coming he never thought they’d be as radical as they were. Nearly 3 dozen SUNY Oneonta students took time last month to clean up Calhoun Creek in Morris which was where plastic hay bale covers had lodged after July’s flooding. City of Oneonta crews will be doing repairs on the middle level of the parking garage this Thursday and Friday between 5:00 a.m. and concluding each day around 1:30 p.m. As a result that level will be closed those days.
