A man is charged with shooting a State Trooper in the Village of Deposit. The trooper was responding to a domestic dispute call on Wednesday when the shooting occured. The trooper underwent surgery and is said to be in stable condition. An invesitgation resulted in Scott Mawhiney being taken into custody on Thursday and charged with first-degree felony attempted murder. He’s been incarcerated without bail.
