A suspect is apprehended in a string of Hartwick burglaries that started last month. Police say they responded to a burglar alarm call at a business on Sunday and saw a driver leaving without the vehicle’s lights on. The driver was pulled over and taken into custody. A Colchester traffic stop results in a driver facing multiple charges. Police say the driver was on Route 17 going 83 miles an hour in a 55 zone. The Village of Sidney receives $1.13 million in federal and state grants for water infrastructure improvements. The grants gover 50% of the project’s cost with the remaining being paid for through interest-free financing. Sidney was chosen based on project eligibility, impacts on water quality and financial hardship. The battle continues over New York’s election district maps. On Monday the supreme court judge who declared the maps unconstitutional appointed an expert from Carnegie Mellon University to redraw the maps. The original redistricting was tossed because the judge found it favored Democrats.
