Legislation to Hold Drinking Water Polluters Accountable

A new state law allows local water authorities to take legal action against drinking water polluters for claims that were previously barred due to the statute of limitations. Local water authorities may generally only file legal claims against companies within three years of when misconduct or contamination occurred.

Coffee With The Chiefs Returns On October 15

The City of Norwich’s “Coffee with the Chiefs” event returns Saturday, October 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Creative Works. According to the Evening Sun residents are encouraged to stop by and enjoy free coffee, baked goods, and have a one-on-one chat with the chiefs.

Pedestrian Injured In Norwich

A pedestrian is recovering from being hit by a car in Norwich. The Evening Sun reports it happened Monday along North Broad Street when the driver went off the road. The car also hit several businesses. Police said the driver may have been experiencing a medical issue.

GOHS Fall Walking Tour Downtown Oneonta Is Oct. 15

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society and Otsego 2000 are sponsoring a Walking Tour of downtown Oneonta at 3:00 p.m. on October 15. The tour will focus on opportunities and threats in the Oneonta Downtown Historic District, which the NYS Preservation League has named to its biannual “Seven to Save” list for 2022-2023.

Woman Facing Fraud Charge In Stamford

A woman is charged with fraud after a Delaware County Sheriff’s office investigation determined she used a credit card account from a town of Stamford resident without permission. The woman who is from Jefferson was taken into custody then released pending a future court date.

A Child Car Seat Safety Check event takes place Saturday at Home Depot in Oneonta from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Technicians will check for correct car seat installation, proper car seat fit for your child and expired/damaged car seats. There is no cost for the check.
