Amphenol Worker Strike Ends

Amphenol Aerospace workers are back on the job after voting to approve a new contracr on Wednesday. The walkout by the IAM Local 1529 rank-and-file started last weekend. A union representative says they were able to resolve tyheir major issues including inadequate sick leave.

Sidewalk Repair In Oneonta

NYSEG will be repairing the sidewalk in front of 203-205 Main St today and tomorrow from 7:00am to 4:00pm. During these times, this section of sidewalk will be closed. No parking signs are also installed. Officials say to use caution and obey all temporary traffic control devices.

DEC Ranger Awarded By Delaware County Firefighters Association

Department of Environmental Conservation Ranger Ellis recently attended the Delaware County Firefighters Association dinner and was honored with the ‘Support Person of the Year’ award. Ranger Ellis has been assists with training in flat water ice rescue, rope rescue, land navigation, and general search and rescue.

SUNY Oneonta Students Clean Up Main St.

Nine SUNY Oneonta students participated in the college’s first Sophomore Service Day event on Saturday, Oct. 15. The students washed the outside of nearly every storefront window on Main St. with additional help from three volunteers from the college’s wrestling team. It allowed participants to meet the community while making a difference.

Teen Dies In Town Of Greene Crash

A teenager is killed in a town of Greene crash Tuesday morning. Police say the 19-year-old was driving east on State Highway 206 near the intersection of County Road 2 when the vehicle left the road and struck a guard rail. The vehicle then struck a tree. The teen died at the scene.

Siena Poll Shows Zeldin Closing In On Hochul

A Siena College Research Institute poll shows Governor Kathy Hochul has an 11-point lead over challenger Lee Zeldin. Hochul leads 52% to Zeldin’s 41%. The same poll taken 3 weeks ago gave Hochul a 17-point lead. The new poll was conducted from Oct. 12 to 14.

NY Enacts New Laws To Aid DV Survivors

Governor Kathy Hochul signed five bills into law Tuesday improving protections for domestic violence victims. The new laws include seizure of weapoms from those under a protection order and allowing victims to keep voter information from being made public. The laws were signed during the observanmce of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Hartwick College Inagurates New President On Saturday

Hartwick College hosts a three-day celebration starting Thursday that includes special events in celebration of the installation of Darren Reisberg as its 11th president. The inauguration will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, under a tent on Frisbee Field in the heart of campus.

Car-School Bus Collision In Milford

A car and a school bus collided Tuesday afternoon on State Route 28 in the Village of Milford. Police say the bus was stopped to let students off with its red lights activated when it was rear ended by the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Amphenol Strike Continues

The walkout continues by International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers members at Amphenol Aerospace in Sidney. The strike began on Saturday after the two sides couldn’t come to terms. Amphenol issued a statement saying it is surprised and desappointed by the walkout.
