Oberacker Makes Push For Parole Reform

State Senator Peter Oberacker joined with fellow Republicans to unveil parole reform legislation designed to protect crime victims and increase public safety. One bill calls for extending the period of time between reconsidering parole board denials from two years to five years when the inmate was sentenced for a violent crime. Oberacker cited the case of David Dart who was convicted in the 1989 killing of Jill Gibbons in Oneonta as one example of why the parole interval should be increased.
