The State Department of Environmental Conservation is conducting prescribed burns on Department managed land from late March to early May. Prescribed fire is a tool used to manage fire-dependent ecosystems in a manner that develops a resilient natural balance in vegetation.

DiNapoli Says Federal Housing Aid Going Unused

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says the Homes and Community Renewal agency can do more to help low-income residents find housing by making full use of available federal funds for vouchers. The comments were from an audit covering 2017 through 2021.

Walton Man Charged With Manslaughter

Delaware County prosecutors charge a 71-year-old from Walton in the December death of a Pennsylvania woman. The indictment says the man killed April Kestner during a domestic dispute at his home. He is in jail without bond.

Ermeti Enters DelCo DA Race

A second candidate enters the race for Delaware County District Attorney. Joe Ermeti announced his candidacy last week. Earlier acting DA Shawn Smith announced he will run for the post. Both are running as Republicans.

Edmeston Man Charged In Child Sex Investigation

A man from Edmeston is taken into custody after an Otsego County Sheriff’s investigation into reports he had a sexual relationship with a minor. The man is also accused of sending indecent material to a minor while employed outside of New York state.

Otsego Board Table Tax Evemption Vote

Town of Otsego lawmakers postpone voting on granting a 10% real estate tax exemption to active volunteer firemen and ambulance workers. According to All Otsego the board wants the town attorney to review the exemption before voting on it.
