State Senator Peter Oberacker participated in the initial meeting of the joint budget conference committee on transportation.The conference committees are made up of five senators and five assemblymen tasked with negotiating budget differences between the houses, in concert with the governor, to develop a final spending plan.

A woman from Maryland who pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges will be in jail for 15 years. Prosecutors say Shelby Ortiz will be on 20 yearsof supervised release when she gets out of prison and will be required to register as a sex offender.

Project Work Impacts Oneonta Intersection

Temporary traffic lights are operating today at the intersection of Main Street and Gardner Place in Oneonta so crews can tie a new sewer pipe into an existing sanitary sewer manhole. This is part of the Gardner Place Street Reconstruction project that runs through the end of June.

City of Oneonta staff identified a safety concern on the exit ramp in the Market Street Parking Garage resulting in the ramp’s immediate closure until further notice. The top level of the parking garage and the exit ramp will remain closed until repairs can be made.
