Laundry Love Comes To Norwich

National nonprofit Laundry Love is opening Wednesday at Norwich Laundromat on East Main Street. Laundry Love partners with groups and local laundromats in cleaning clothes and linens of low-income or no-income individuals and families. The Norwich location operates during the third Wednesday of every month from 4-6 p.m.

OPD Investigating Gunshot Wound Report

Oneonta Police are investigating claims by an individual that they were injured by a gun shot. Offivers were called to A.O. Fox Hospital but there was no conclusive evidence of a gunshot wound. The individual was treated and released.

DEC Issues Guidance to Reduce Conflicts with Bears

The Department of Environmental Conservation reminds the public to remove or secure outdoor food sources that may attract black bears.Those who feed birds should begin emptying and cleaning up spilt seed from feeders, secure garbage cans and store pet and livestock food indoors.

Schumer Visits Norwich

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer visited the City of Norwich Fire Department last week. He talked about federal programs which he says are at risk of being totally eliminated. Schumer announced the Village of Oxford Fire Department received a $226,200 grant to support recruitment and retention activities.

B-G Reservoirs Opened For Fishing & Boating

The New York Power Authority opens the lower and upper reservoirs at the Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project to recreational boating. Both fishing areas were recently enhanced with picnic tables and portable bathrooms for the convenience of the boating and fishing communities.

Davenport Town Supervisor Dies

Davenport’s town supervisor died on Tuesday. Delaware County Board of Supervisors chair Tina Molé tells the Daily Star Dennis Valente had an undisclosed medical procedure in February and attended one of two board meetings last month. Valente served as town supervisor for just over 17 years
