Oneonta Man Killed In Alaska Helicopter Crash

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced Chief Warrant Officer 3 Christopher R. Eramo was one of the three soldiers killed in a helicopter collision in Alaska last Thursday. Their thoughts and prayers are with the Eramo family and our lost service members.

NPD Officers Recognized For Bravery

Norwich Police Department Sergeant Steven Rounds and officers Keith Leigh, Tristan Rifanburg and Scott Laughlin were honored by the City Commission. According to the Evening Sun the citations recognized their service when Leigh was struck by a vehicle during an attempted arrest of a wanted drug suspect.

GG Man Sentenced In Roxbury Burglary

A man from Grand Gorge will be in jail for up to 3 years on a guilty plea to a January incident. Proisecutors say Patrick T. Combs stole over $3,000 from the Roxbury Country Store. Combs pleaded guilty last month.

Middleburgh Man Charged In Child Porn Investigation

A man from Middleburgh employed as a Schoharie Central School District custodial worker is facing charges from a State Police child pornography investigation. He is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. The man is due in court next month.

OCSO K-9 Team Gets Explosives Detection Training

Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy Jessica Thornhill and her K-9 partner Tracer trained this week with 53 other K-9 explosive detection teams at the New York State Preparedness Training Center. Thornhill says she’s glad to get Tracer accustomed to high-stress situations.

FoxCare Fitness To Remain Open

Bassett Healthcare Network announced it has reached an agreement with the Oneonta Family YMCA to keep FoxCare Fitness open. Earlier this year Bassett announced that the fitness center would permanently close on June 1 due to declining membership and other factors.

2 teenagers from Schnectady are charged in a town of Oneonta business burglary. Police say the duo several items from the business. Both were booked on larceny charges then released on their own recognizance pending future court dates.

Walmart Larceny Suspect Also Facing Drug Charges

The suspect in a Oneonta Walmart larceny ends up in more trouble as he possessed methamphetamine when he was arrested. Accoding to the Otesgo County Sheriff’s Office the man who is from Walton was charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
