State Commission Recommends Guilford Justice’s Removal

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct is recommending Guilford Town Justice Jeremy L. Persons be removed from office. According to the Prees-Cennects the recommendation is from a state investigation into reports he made sexually inappropriate comments and engaged in other serious misconduct.

Unadilla Man Arrested On Chenango County Warrant

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office arrests a Unadilla man wanted on a Chenango County warrant. The man also had methamphetamine when he was taken into custody. He was booked on the drug charge then turned over to Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies.

83-Year-Old Woman Charged With Trespassing At Masonville HGome

An 83-year-old woman is charged with entering and remaining in a Town of Masonville residence without permission. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s office the woman was warned previously not to trespass at that location. She was booked then released pending a future court appearance.

Lawsuit Filed In Sidney Pedestrian Accident

The mother of the 14-year-old Sidney girl critically injured after being hit by a driver last February is suing the Town of Sidney establishment that served drinks to the driver. According to court records Delsa McEwan is also suing the driver the car’s owner.

DNA Links Man To Stamford Burglaries

Bail is set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 in secured bond for a man charged with burglarizing a town of Stamford home in February and March. Police say DNA found in the home linked the man to the burglaries.

Juveniles Charged In Davenport School Incident

2 juveniles are charged with assault from an incident at Charlotte Valley Central School in the Town of Davenport. Police say the 2 were involved in a physical altercation where the victim was injured. Both will report to the Delaware County Probation Department at a later date.

State Opens Rape Kit Storage Facility

The state opens a new facility to store sexual offense evidence collection kits that have not been released to law enforcement. The facility is the result of a law requiring unreported evidence collection kits to be stored for 20 years from the date of collection.

NY Offering Cooling Assistance For Heat-Vulnerable Individuals

New York is making $15 million available to help low-income residents who suffer from serious health issues and who are affected by heat to obtain assistance to pay for cooling equipment. Applicants must meet existing eligibility criteria and income guidelines. Go to otda.ny.gov for details.

Man Charged In Norwich Pursuit

A driver is facing charges from a Norwich police pursuit last Friday. It started after an attempted traffic stop and ended at Hortsman’s Trailer Park in the town of Norwich where the man barricaded himself in the vehicle. He also had outstanding warrants.

County Road 16 In Delhi Closing For Project Work

County Road 16 in the Town of Delhi is closed today between the two intersections with Fleming Road while crews replace a culvert pipe. Tomorrow the road will be closed in the Town of Franklin between the northern intersection with Fleming Road and Douglas Hall Road.
