Forest Rangers Help Middleburgh Hiker

State Forest Rangers assisted a hiker who felt ill and weak while walking down from a Middleburgh overlook. Rangers met up with the 73-year-old hiker and provided food and water before helping him back to the trailhead. A family member picked him up.

Oneonra Propertyt Owners Can View Assessment Roll

City of Oneonta property owners can review their assessment for the current at the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours until May 25. The Assessor will be in attendance with the assessment roll at City Hall on Thursday and on Saturday afternoon.

Hussain Trial Deliberations Underway

Deliberations began Tuesday in the trial of Nauman Hussain, the former limo company owner charged in a 2018 crash in schoharie that killed 20 people. Hussain was indicted on 20 counts each of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

Hochul Favorability Rating Negative for First Time

The newest Siena College poll finds more voters disapprove of Governor Kathy Hochul’s job performance. The survey found Hochul’s favorability rating also dropped into negative territory. A plurality of voters said that overall, the recently passed state budget will be good forNew York.

Otsego County Declares SOE

The Otsego County Voard of Representatives declared a state of emergency over concerns undocumented immigrants will be transported in from overcrowded cities. Accoding to a news release the state of emergency will last for 30 days, until June 15.

School Budget Votes Held Tuesday

Votes on several school district budgets and board members were held Tuesday. The Oneonta, Franklin, Walton. and Delaware Academy Central School District at Delhi were among those districts having their budgets approved. Bainbridge-Guilford High School Marek Rajner won a seat on the school board.
