The Otsego County Conservation Association will host “The Mohican Meet and Mingle” on June 9 adjacent to the historic Ellen Biddle Shipman Garden at Mohican Farm in Springfield. The association will honor Milford Central School teacher, Kim Burkhart as its “Conservationist of the Year”

Catch Basin Work Continues In Oneonta

The City of Oneonta is continuing work today to replace two catch basins at the intersection of Chestnut St and Richmond Ave. Work will conclude by 5:00 pm. Traffic will be open in both directions of Chestnut St.

Walton Man Charged With Harrasment

A Delaware County Sheriff’s investigation into a Harpersfield domestic dispute leads to a man being charged with harassment. Deputies say the man from Waltoin caused another person to be alarmed and annoyed by his actions. The man was booked then released pending a future court date.

Hussain Found Guilty In Schoharie Limo Crash

Former limo company owner Nauman Hussain is convicted by a jury on 20 counts each of second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the 2018 crash in schoharie that killed 20 people. Sentencing will be on May 31.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation reminds the public to appreciate wildlife from a safe distance and resist the urge to touch or pick up newborn fawns and other young wildlife. Human contact with wildlife can result in unintended consequences detrimental to the animals people intend to help.

Fulton Brush Fire Consumes 9 Acres

A brush fire in the Town of Fulton consumes 9 acres. State Forest Rangers assisted firefights to get the blaze under control. An investigation determined the fire started from a resident burning debris. The landowner was cired for a burn ban violation.

Forest Rangers Help Middleburgh Hiker

State Forest Rangers assisted a hiker who felt ill and weak while walking down from a Middleburgh overlook. Rangers met up with the 73-year-old hiker and provided food and water before helping him back to the trailhead. A family member picked him up.

Oneonra Propertyt Owners Can View Assessment Roll

City of Oneonta property owners can review their assessment for the current at the City Clerk’s Office during regular business hours until May 25. The Assessor will be in attendance with the assessment roll at City Hall on Thursday and on Saturday afternoon.
