The state trooper who fatally shot a Franklin man in 2021 is not facing charges. According to Attorney General Leticia James’ office an investifation determined a prosecutor would not be able to disprove justification beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
SUNY Oneonta’s Parking Office reminds motorcyclists they are required to have a valid parking pass. All vehicles, including motorcycles, must park in designated parking spaces. There is no parking on the sidewalks or grass. Violators will be ticketed.
The pilot killed in a Norwich plane crash is identified as Shawn McMahon of Binghamton. Acording to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office said tMcMahon was the only occupant of the single-emgine aircraft and died at the scene.The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
A man from Hancock convicted of child sexual abuse is sentenced to 7 years in jail. Prosecutors say Jason P. Dufton engaged in at least two acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 110. The Department of Motor Vehicles is cracking down on the use of fake license plates. The agency is woreking with local law enforcement to catch those using the fake plates to among other things avoid tolls, vehicle registration fees and avoid detection from law enforcement.
A fire damaged a Norwich apartment on Monday. Firefights respionding to the t Peacock Manor Apartments encountered heavy smoke on the first floor and got the fire out in short order. 2 people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation but no other injuries were reported.

Oneonta Police ask residents to refrain from blowing lawn clippings into the roadway. State law prohibits any substance that is likely to cause injury from being placed on a roadway. Blowing grass on the road creates a serious threat to anyone riding a motorcycle, moped, or bicycle.
