Unatego Kids Get Bike Safety Info

The Otsego County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA partnered with the Otsego County Child Advocacy Center and the Otsego-Schoharie Child Fatality Review team to provide bicycle safety information to pre-kindergarten students in the Unatego Central School District. Students were given donated bicycle helmets at the event.

Bassett & Hartwick Partner For Simulation Labs

Bassett Healthcare Network and Hartwick College announced the launch of joint simulation labs for first-year Bassett residents and nursing students. This is the first time Bassett residents are partnering with Hartwick nursing students in simulation labs. 23 first-year Bassett physicians are participating.

Free Cancer Screening Today

The Mobile Cancer Screening Coach will be at Southside Mall today from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to provide no cost mammograms and Pap tests to women 40 and over who don’t have insurance. Those with insurance are also urged to participate.

Norwich Performing Business Walkthroughs

City of Norwich personnel are performing downtown building walkthroughs. According to the Evening Sun staffers go into businesses and survey the buildings for code violations and loitering. It’s the result of numerous complaints received by police with most about north end businesses.

Former DelCo Jail Inmate Back Behind Bars

Aformer Delaware County Jail inmate is charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt for repeatedly violating a protection order while behind bars. Police say it happened prior to his release from the Correctional Facility. He was apprehended again and sent to jail on a $15,000 bond.

Driver Arrested In Duanesburg Traffic Stop

State Police arrest the driver in a Duanesburg traffic stop where a trooper was shot by a passenger. The driver is charged with Robbery in the First Degree and was jailed on $5,000 cash bail or a $25,000 bond. The passenger died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

NY Extends Postpartum Medicaid Coverage Period

The State Department of Health announced that postpartum coverage through Medicaid and Child Health Plus will now last for one year. Previously, enrollees would only be covered for 60 days postpartum. The new coverage period takes effect immediately.
