A driver who ran out of gas in Middletown ends up in jail for possessing a stolen vehicle. State Police say the man also possessed illegal drugs. He was booked then released on his lwn recognizance pending a future court appearance.
A woman from Coventry is jailed without bail for breaking into a vehicle and stealing items including a pistol. State Police say it happened at a State Highway 206 residence in the town of Coventry. The woman also trespassed on several properties in the area.
Next Tuesday is National HIV Testing Day and Family Planning of South Central New York is providing free Rapid HIV testing at its Oneonta and Norwich medical centers. According to a news release both appointments and walk-ins are accepted during normal business hours.
There’s a new superintendent and chief executive officer at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES. According to a news release Donald Shepardson is to be appointed when the BOCES board meets next month with an anticipated start date of October 1. Shepardson is currently the superintendent of the West Canada
The Department of Motor Vehicles continues to roll out its new inspection sticker system. The new stickers contain the vehicle identification number and mileage information in irder to combact sticker counterfeiting. More than 100,000 inspections have been conducted so far under the new system.
The Schoharie County Amateur Radio Association is participating in the annual Field Days event at the Cobleskill Elks Club. It starts at noon Saturday and runs through noon Sunday. Club members will be communicating with other amateur radio operators around the world. The public is invited to attend.
The Mobile Cancer Screening Coach will be at 109 Baker Ave. in Middleburg today from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to provide no cost mammograms and Pap tests to women 40 and over who don’t have insurance. Those with insurance are also urged to participate.
Renovations are under way at the Upper Wilber Park Basketball Court. Work includes installation of a new asphalt surface, painted lines, and installation of new basketball posts and backboards. The nasketball court will be closed while work is taking place.
A water main replacement project begins today in Oeonta’s 6th Ward that runs until this fall. It will be on River Street and Ann Street Temporary barricades and traffic flaggers will be in place to direct drivers through the work zones.
A woman from Colchester with an active arrest warrant ends up in more trouble as Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies were taking her into custody. Deputies say she failed to comply with an order to surrender. She was booked into jail and has a daye in Town of Colchester Court.
