NY Extends Postpartum Medicaid Coverage Period

The State Department of Health announced that postpartum coverage through Medicaid and Child Health Plus will now last for one year. Previously, enrollees would only be covered for 60 days postpartum. The new coverage period takes effect immediately.

Early Voting Underway

Early voting is under way for the June 27 primary election. In Otsego County In Otsego County you can vote at the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta or at the Meadows Office Complex in Cooperstown. Early voting ends next Sunday.

Norwich Hometown Heroes Banners Unveiled

Last week the Norwich Hometown Heroes Banner Committee hosted an unveiling ceremony in East Park. According to the Evening Sun around 70 banners feature veterans dating back to the Civil War, from all branches of service, men and women, and from the Norwich area.

Man Charged With Passing Fake Currency

A man is apprehended for passing fake money in the town of Morris. Police say the man used four fake $100 dollar bill to pay for services at a business. He was booked then released pending a date in Town of Morris Court.

Oneonta Man Charged With Violating Protection Order

An Oneonta man is facing charges for violating a Court issued Protection order. Police say the man contacted the protected person while incarcerated in the Otsego County Correction Facility. He will appear in the Town of Middlefield Court on a later date.

Oneonta Conducting City Hall Services Survey

The City of Oneonta is exploring alternatives to the current ways services are delivered. One area being considered is the hours of operations for services provided at City Hall. An onmline survey on this is at the City’s Facebook page.

Trooper Injured In Duanesburg Traffic Stop

A state trooper is injured during a Duanesburg traffic stop on Saturday. Investigators say a pasenger opened fire on the trooper. He was hospitalized and released. The shooter took off on foot and was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Rafter Resigns From City Council

Oneonta 7th Ward Council Member John Rafter announced his resignation as he will be moving out of the Oneonta-area to be closer to family.. He was elected to the Common Council in the 2015 election. The city thanks him for his many years of dedicated and tireless service.
