Area Libraries Receive State Construction Grants

Public libraries in Edmeston, Hartwick, Richfield Springs and Sidney receive state grants for various construction projects. Senator Peter Oberacker says libraries are historic landmarks in many cases and technology and accessibility upgrades can be costly so these funds will help as communities make needed improvements to meet new and evolving needs. Otsego ReUse Center Sends Off 18,000 Pounds of Polystyrene for ReUse

Oneonta’s ReUse Center announces it has collected 9 tons of polystyrene for recycling. Officials say polystyrene which is better known as styrofoam is often not recycled and ends up in landfills. The Center began recycling polystyrene in 2019 after acquiring specialized equipment. The Center is a project of the Arc Otsego. Source: Press release

Fire Disrupts Delhi Telephone Service

Hundreds of Delhi Telephone Co. customers lost service early Wednesday after service lines caugh fire. Officials say it happened on County Route 35 where a tree caught fire. Most service was restored by early afternoon and the company posted on social media that all service is now restored. Pavement Maintenance In Oneonta Through Monday

The City of Oneonta is performing a pavement maintenance process on several streets weather permitting. The work starts today and goes through Monday between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. \Sidney Man Faces Felony Burglary Charge

A burglary report in Sidney on Wednesday leads to a man facing a felony charge. Police say they were called to a River St. location and detained a 29-year-old believed to be involved in the incident. Suspect Charged In Sidney Criminal Investigation

A Sidney Police investigation into several criminal incidents ends up with a woman facing multiple felony charges. Police say the woman was apprehended on Tuesday with an active arrest warrant and was arraigned in Village of Sidney Court. Bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. A dispute between neighbors in Stamford last Saturday results in both facing charges. Police say they responded to a River St. address and an investigation determined a man and woman made physical contact . The case was forwarded to Town of Stamford court which brought the charges.
