NY Announces $59 Million ‘Clean Green Schools’ Initiative

New York introduces the “Clean Green Schools” Initiative aimed to improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions in more than 500 public and private Pre-K-12 schools in disadvantaged communities. Rabid Bat Found In Oneonta

The Otsego County Department of Health reports a bat found in Oneonta on Wednesday tested positive for rabies. One person was exposed and is being treated. Otsego County Reports 69th COVID-19 Related Death

The Otsego County Department of Health reports a 69th person died from COVID-19 related complications. The individual’s age and gender weren’t released and it’s not known if they had been vaccinated. It’s the 4th COVID-19 related death in the past 2 weeks. 17 new COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday with 7 people hospitalized. SUNY Oneonta Has New Weather Station

SUNY Oneonta’s Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences has a new weather station on the roof of Perna Science. It replaces the Davis station and the new equipment has a dashboard showing the latest conditions, temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed and rain fall. Power Outage Closes Unatego Elementary

Unatego Elementary School students got out of classes early on Wednesday after the power went out. Officials say the power went out arround 10:00 a.m. and students were dismissed at 11:30. Preparations were made for remote learning in case National Grid couldn’t get service restored. The outage’s cause isn’t known. NY Provides Utility Bill Assistance For Income Qualified Residents

New York is making $150 million available through the Home Energy Assistance Program for those behind on their utility bills.
