NY Expands Paid Family Leave

New York’s paid family leave is now expanded to include caring for siblings with a serious health condition. Prior to the expansion the program covered caring for spouses, domestic partners, children and step-children, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents and grandchildren with a serious health condition. SUNY Oneonta’s giving tree program is back for 2021. Gift tag pickup is Nov. 9 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m. in the Butternut Valley room at Hunt Union. Cobleskill Man Charged With Strangulation

A choking incident Sunday in Carlisle leads to a felony charge. Police say an investigation determined the suspect who was from Cobleskill got into an argument with the victim and that let to the physical assault. Chobani Grants $200,000 To 5 Nonprofit Organizations

5 nonprofits will receive grants totalling $200,000 from the Chobani Impact Fund. Cornell Cooperative Extension-Chenango County, Unadilla Community Farm Education Center, HALos, Inc.,Delaware County Economic Development and Pathfinder Village Foundation, Inc. were chosen by Chobani’s employee selection committee. An Otsego County hit-and-run crash on County Highway 26 ends up with the victim driver’s car going into a pond. Police say the driver was able to safely get out of the partially submerged vehicle. Highway To Be Named In Honor Of Butternuts Vietnam Veteran

Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation designating a portion of State Highway 51 n the Town of Butternuts as SP4 Richard F. Walton, Jr. Memorial Highway. Walton served in the Vietnam war and was killed in a helicopter crash. Senator Peter Oberacker says it is his humble honor to help keep Walton’s memory alive. Wright Man Faces Felony Charge In ATV Theft

An investigation into a Town of Wright ATV theft ends up with a man facing a felony charge. Police say they found the vehicle at the man’s residence after he attempted to sell the vehicle reported stolen out of Saratoga County. The man is due in court Nov. 22.
