Norwich Re-Implementing Clothing Sales Tax

The City of Norwich is ending its long-standing sales tax exemption for clothing purchases under $110. According to the Evening Sun the 1.5% tax will be re-implemented in March. It applies to items purchased in stores or ordered online and shipped to a Norwich address. NY Creates “Substance Use Disorder Education and Recovery Fund”

New York creates the “Substance Use Disorder Education and Recovery Fund” and authorizes gifts on personal income tax returns, for substance use disorder education and recovery. Money goes to organizations dedicated to providing education, prevention, treatment or recovery to those suffering from substance use disorders. Oneonta Warming Station Now Open

The Oneonta Warming Station is now open at 189 Chestnut St. The station is a safe and warm space for those without shelter on dangerously cold nights. Hours are 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. It was created by the Caring for the Homeless Population Collaborative and supported by community donations. Rural Communities Could Get Broadband Internet If Grant Is Approved

Residents of Guilford, McDonough and Oxford are among the communities where broadband internet access could be expanded if the Southern Tier 8 Regional Board wins a $22 million grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
