Walton Man Charged With Grand Larceny

Grand Larceny charges are filed after a proprty theft investigation in the towns of Walton and Franklin. Police say the 58-year-old from Walton stole over $53,000 from businesses associates on separate occasions. The suspect was taken into custody last Thursday then released on their own recognizance. VanAuken New NYSP Troop C Commander

State Police Troop C based in Sidney has a new commander. Major Jeffrey VanAuken succeeded Major Todd Stratton who retired earlier this year. Major VanAuken is a 27-year department veteran who is a Navy veteran. He says a major goal is to stop the flow of illegal drugs and weapons. NY Takes Action Against Robocallers

New York takes action against robocalls with 2 new pieces of legislation. One bill requires telecommunications companies to block robocalls from certain numbers while the other orders voice service providers to implement call authentication framework to validate call numbers. Otsego County Reports 74th COVID-19 Death

The Otsego County Health Department reports the 74th COVID-19 related death happened last week. It’s not known if the individual had been vaccinated. Officials say that close to 92% of the deaths were those who were not vaccinated. 20 new cases were reported Sunday with 6 people hospitalized.
