This year’s St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event in Norwich raised over $52,000. The Evening Sun reports there were 40 participants with nearly three-quarters offering to have their heads shaved in solidarity with childhood cancer patients. The event was dedicated to 6-year-old Trinity O’Connor who recently died from cancer. A Schoharie County man faces a criminal mischief charge from a shooting incident causing damage at a firehouse and a neighboring property. Police say the man fired at the West Fulton Firehouse and at an above-ground swimming pool. No injuries were reported. A statewide group representing school nutrition employees, managers, directors and registered dietitians calls on lawmakers to continue free meals for students after the federal COVID-19 waivers end in June. 2 men from Delhi face multiple felony charges from a State Police catalytic converter theft investigation. The men are accused of stealing a converter from a vehicle in Delhi then selling it to a Davenport auto parts yard. Both men are free on their own recognizance. The New York State Police Academy holds a graduation ceremony today at Empire State Plaza in Albany. 227 new Troopers will be honored for their perseverance and dedication in completing the 210th session of the Academy’s Basic School. Otsego County’s Unemployment rate for January was 4.1% according to the state Department of Labor. A year ago it was 6.1%. Chenango and Delaware County’s rate was 4% and those were also well down from January 2021. Statewide unemployment is at 5.3% compared to 9.3% a year ago.
