A former Otsego County sheriff’s deputy is indicted for a 2020 incident where his gun went off while off duty. Prosecutors say the incident resulted in minor injuries to a woman and her 10-year-old daughter. A court appearance is set for later this month. Two seperate accidents on State Route 8 in the town of Deposit on Thursday caused the roadway to be shut down. The first accident involved a tractor trailer that overturned then an hour later a second tractor trailer hit low hanging wires from last week’s storm. No one was hurt in either accident. The Otsego County Health Department reports the COVID-19 Community Level for transmission is increased to medium from low. There were 26 new cases last Thursday with a 9.3% 7 day positivity rate. 2 people are hospitalized and no new deaths were reported. There’s been 16 COVID-19 related deaths this year. The Community Foundation of Otsego County announces its efforts to support resettled Ukrainian refugees. Everyone enrolled in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for April.. Households already receiving the maximum monthly benefit, and those that had been receiving an emergency allotment will receive a supplemental payment of at least $95.
