NY Implements Utility Bill Credit Program for Low-Income Families

New York has a new program to help low-income electric and gas utility customers pay off past utility bills. The financial assistance program requires utilities to provide a one-time credit to customers enrolled in the Energy Affordability Program that will eliminate unpaid utility bills through May 1 of this year. NY lauches a street-level broadband internet service map. Log on to mapmybroadband.dps.ny.gov and enter your address to see connectivity information. Officials say the map provides the most detailed depiction of broadband infrastructure in New York to date. It’s the result of collaboration with 60 internet service providers and a consumer survey. NY Sales Tax Collections Increased Last Month

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office announced local sales tax collections last month increased by nearly 17% over a year ago. Local collections totaled $1.7 billion, up $242 million from May of last year.
