NY Announces New Downtown Program

New York’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative competition now has a sister program called NY Forward. According to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office the programs will accelerate and expand New York’s burgeoning downtown revitalization. Oneonta and Norwich received $10 million awards from the DRI program. Chenango County Board of Supervisors Supports Central Arraignment

The Chenango County Board of Supervisors is supporting a revised criminal arraignment process. According to the Evening Sun it proposes a central arraignment office at the Chenango County jail. Currently arraignments are held in the jurisdiction where the arrest occurred. Any change will need to be approved by the state. Landis Arboretum Has New Meditation Garden

Esperance’s Landis Arboretum recently dedicated its new meditation garden. According to the Daily Gazette volunteers worked alongside arboretum staff to clear a series of overgrown hedges just a short walk from the preserve’s Lape Road entrance to make way for the garden. Kossmann Named Schoharie County Ag Development Specialist

Schoharie County has a new Agriculture Development specialist. According to the Cobleskill Times-Journal he’s Nick Kossmann and he succeeds Alicia Terry who is now mayor of Gilboa. Parking Garage – Security Camera Install Today Thru Friday

Fire Destroys North Norwich Home

The Red Cross is helping a Town of North Norwich family after a weekend fire forced then from their home. Officials tell the Evening Sun the fire at the Morgan Acres Road home started at ground level and spread upwards. The home is considered a total loss.
