Norwich Boy Named Honorary Police Officer

A 4-year-old from Norwich is named as an honorary police officer. According to the Evening Sun the ceremony for Nicholas Gogani took place at this week’s common council meeting. Nicholas recently visited Norwich Police for the day where he participated in a mock traffic stop in which he pulled over Mayor Doliver. Road Work Closes CR 37 In Middletown

Plan for delays starting next Monday on County Road 37 in the Town of Middletown between Main Street and Breezy Hill Road. The road will be closed during the day and one lane will be open overnight. Rattlesnake Captured At Hancock Home

State Department of Environmental Conservation Police were called to a town of Hancock home to capture a rattlesnake found in the living room. The 3.5-foot timber rattlesnake was back into the wild far from any homes. Timber rattlesnakes are native to New York and they are venomous. Otselic Schools Audited For Procurement Praactices

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office audited the Otselic Valley Central School District to determine if a competitive process was used to procure goods and services not subject to competitive bidding. It found that officials did not always seek competition and cited several examples. Officials say they plan to initiate corrective action. Coyote Pup Found At Schenevus Fairgrounds

Visitors to the Schenevus Fairgrounds last Friday got a surprise when they spotted a coyote pup by the fireworks tent. A Department of Environmental Conservation officer was called in and secured the pup. Schenevus Fire personnel helped get the pup into a box and it was released back into the wild.
