The man accused of attacking gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin last week at a campaign event who was released is back in custody this time on federal charges since Zeldin is a U.S. Congressman. The man was re-apprehended on Saturday and is held pending a bail hearing later this week. The City of Norwich has a vacancy for Ward One Alderman now that Matthew Caldwell announced his resignation effective on August 13. An attendee at a Monroe County rally for Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Lee Zeldin attempted to stab him. Police say a man jumped on stage and Zeldin grabbed his wrist until others tackled the attacker to the ground. Zeldin was not hurt and finished his speech.
