Chenango SPCA Paws & Pints Fundraiser Is Aug. 6

The Chenango SPCA is holding its second annual “Paws and Pints” fundraiser on August 6 at Hidden Springs Brewhouse in Norwich. According to the Evening Sun the benefit will help defray the $1,000-per-day cost to run the shelter. There are on average around 200 animals at the shelter. 3 Charged In NYS Unclaimed Property Fraud Investigation

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office announced 3 people are charged with defrauding 100 people out of unclaimed property they wereentitled to. An investigation determine the trio stole people’s identities to obtain the property. Federal prosecutors and postal service inspectors participated in the investigation. Wright Man Charged With Felonies For Firing A Gun During Dispute

A man from Wright faces multiple felony charges for firing a gun during a domestic dispute. State Police say the man fired the gun while he and the victim were having an argument. No one was hurt. Monkeypox Testing Expanded In NY

The State Department of Health reviewed and approved Quest Diagnostics’ recent application for testing to identify monkeypox. The testing gives providers another option when it comes to labs that can process samples and detect the Monkeypox virus. As of Monday New York has a total of 1,111 confirmed monkeypox cases. NYSP Responds To Fatal Crash On State Route 23

A car-truck crash on State Route 23 in Roxbury results in a woman’s death. According to State Police the 79-year-old woman was traveling east when she went into the westbound lanes and hit the truck head-on. She died at the scene. Walton Bridge Dedicated To Fallen Vietnam War Veteran

On Friday a bridge in the Village of Walton over the West Branch was dedicated to 1st Lt. Stephen H. Doane who was killed in the Vietnam War while saving fellow soldiers pinned down by enemy fire.
