SUNY Investing $113 Million to Increase Enrollment and College Completion Rates

The State University of New York Board of Trustees is allocating $113 million to support campus programs designed to increase services to SUNY students, bolster enrollment at SUNY institutions, and support college completion rates. $60 million is to be distributed across SUNY’s campuses for investing in enrollment, academic programs, student services, and operational efficiencies.

Cobleskill Man Uses Unique Approach To Support Abortion Rights

A Cobleskill man takes an unusual approach to show support for abortion rights. According to the Daily Gazette the man used his riding lawnmower to create a message saying “Women’s Rights” in his backyard overlooking Route 145. The message can be seen from the roadway heading north out of Cobleskill.

Chenango County Wine, Beer, and Food Festival Is Saturday

The first ever Chenango County Wine, Beer and Food Festival presented by Commerce Chenango Tourism is this Saturday at the Chenango County Fairgrounds. According to the Evening Sun there will be nearly a dozen wineries, breweries, and distilleries plus close to a dozen food vendors. Crafters and artisans will also be on hand.

Woman Killed In Pittsfield Crash

A woman died in a town of Pittsfield crash on Wednesday. Police say she was on County Highway 13 near Hawks Road when her car left the highway, struck a tree and caught on fire. The woman’s identity was withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Fatal Crash In Davenport

A woman died in a 2-car crash on Tuesday in Davenport. Police say the woman was a passenger in a car that was hit in the intersection of State Highway 23 and County Highway 10. The car’s driver suffered life-threatening injuries while the driver of the other vehicle had minor injuries.

ARC Reports Blood Shortage

The American Red Cross is calling on the public to donate blood as supplies are down by as much as 20%. Those who donate from August 1 through August 31 will get a chance to be one of three winners of gasoline for a year. Make an appointment at RedCrossBlood.org

DiNapoli Reports Local Sales Tax Collections Increase

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office reports local sales tax collections totaled more than $5.5 billion in the second quarter of 2022 which is an increase of over 12% compared to 2021. DiNapoli said local officials should continue to closely monitor changing economic conditions as well as other factors that may impact sales tax collections.
