NY Offers Healthcare Worker Bonus Program

New York has a new health care and mental hygiene worker bonus program which includes $1.3 billion for the payment of recruitment and retention bonuses. The bonuses will be awarded to eligible workers who make less than $125,000 annually and remain in their positions for at least six months.

Cooperstown Summer Music Festival Hosts Verona Quartet

The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival’s 24th season continues next Monday with a performance by the Verona Quartet, one the most exciting current interpreters of the string quartet literature. The show is at the Otesaga Resort Hotel and begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for students and children.

Unadilla Valley Schools Remembers Student Athlete

Over 200 people attended a tribute held by the Unadilla Valley Central School District to former student-athlete Payton Stirone. According to the Evening Sun Stirone was killed in a car crash last month. Everyone signed a white jersey and helmet that will be put in the UV trophy case in Payton’s memory.

Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Gets Car Seat Grant

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office is receiving a $4,000 state grant for its child car seat inspection and replacement program. According to the Evening Sun the allotment comes from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Sheriff’s Office has been an active participant in the state program for more than two decades.

Pathfinder Village Concert Series Starts Saturday

Pathfinder Village celebrates its 24th annual summer concert series starting this Saturday with a performance by classic rock and country duo “Double Barrel” at 2:00 p.m. in the Pathfinder Pavilion. The free concerts are made possible from the Statewide Community Regrants Program. The series continues on Saturdays throughout the month.

Attorney General James Takes Action to Crack Down on Rampant Robocalls

New York Attorney General Letitia James joined a coalition of 50 attorneys general to form an Anti-Robocall Litigation Taskforce to investigate and take legal action against telecommunications companies responsible for enabling a majority of foreign robocalls into the United States. The taskforce will work to cut down on illegal robocalls made to consumers nationwide.

Fire Hydrant Removal In Oneonta

A fire hydrant removal project closes State Street in Oneonta today from Hickey Street to Hazel Street. Bugbee Daycare Center’s parking lot can be accessed by entering from Hazel Street. There will be a temporary water outage and will impact users from Hickey Street to Hazel Street.

DiNapoli Says Don’t Leave Your Money Behind!

Staff from New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli’s office will attend community events this month to help residents search for lost and forgotten money, also known as unclaimed funds. DiNapoli oversees more than 46 million unclaimed funds accounts valued at $17.5 billion and wants to return the money to its rightful owners.
