Roseboom Man Charged With Assaulting A Child

A Roseboom man is facing an assault charge after an investigation that began when a child was admitted to Bassett Hospital with an eye injury. Police say the man hit the child with a metal water bottle. He is jailed on $5,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

NY Investigating Ghost Gun Trafficking

State Police are investigating multiple cases of illegal gun trafficking across the state. Many of those involve so’called “ghost guns” that are assembled from parts and do not have serial numbers. Illegal firearm seizures are up by more than 100% in the past year. There have been over 6,000 seizures so far this year.

NYSPHSAA Names Schools of Distinction and Schools of Excellence

3 area schools are recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association for their scholar-athlete achievements. The Sherburne-Earlville Central School District was named a “School of Excellence” while the Cherry Valley Springfield Central School District and Morris Central School District were named as a “School of Distinction”.

Walton RSO Facing New Charges

A level 3 sex offender is facing new charges after an investigation into a child sexual assault incident at his town of Walton business. Police say the man was taken imto custody on Wednesday and is now held without bond. Investigators say there may be additional victims.

Bovina Man Injured When Truck Falls

A man is recovering after being pinned under a garvage truck in Bovina. The discovery was made by a State Trooper on patrol and Bovina Fire and EMS along with Andes crews responded to dig away the dirt bank to free the individual. He was airlifted to an Albany hospital.

Concert in Neahwa Park Postponed

Tonight’s concert at Neahwa Park is postponed due to a high heat index forecast and the possibility of evening thunderstorms. Recreation Department officials say they hope to reschedule the performance of the band, ‘Off the Record’ to another night in Neahwa later this summer.

Fenimore Receives Digitization Grant

The Fenimore Art Museum received a grant from the South Central Regional Library Council to digitize the museum’s collection of microfilmed newspapers from Chenango and Delaware Counties. According to All Otsego the Technology and Digitization grant is worth over $5,500. The newly digitized papers will be added to the NYS Historic Newspapers website.

Two Charged In Delhi Arson

Two people are charged in a town of Delhi arson. Police say it happened at a property was on Honest Brook Road but didn’t provide any other information. One of the suspects is also charged with violating an order of protection. Both are free on their own recognizance pending a future court date.

DEC Announces Hunting and Trapping Licenses are Now on Sale

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation opened hunting and trapping licenses and Deer Management Permit sales for the 2022-2023 season. The new hunting and trapping licenses are valid from Sept. 1, 2022, through Aug. 31, 2023. Annual fishing licenses are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.

Police K9 Unit Locates Missing Person

A 74-year-old woman reported missing is found safe by Delhi Police Officer Justin Mohr and K9 partner Dexter. The woman was found in a wooded hillside behind her residence. residence after Mohr & Dexter traced her path for about 10 minutes in the dark woods. This was Dexter’s first successful track outside of training.
