Otsego County Under Drought Watch

Otsego County is now on the list of locations under a drought watch by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. A watch means residents are encouraged to conserve water whenever possible. Chenango, Delaware and Schoharie Counties are also under a drought watch which is the first of four advisory levels.

Pay Raises For Chenango County Election Workers

The Chenango County Board of Supervisors approved a pay increase for elections clerks. According to the Evening Sun the salary is now $17.71 per hour which is a $2 increase. The Board also voted to increase salaried work hours from 30 to 35. Their annual salaries will go to just over $57,00.

NY Enters Into $10 Million Partnership to Assist Direct Support Professionals

The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities enters into a partnership with the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals to expand opportunities for professional credentialing for direct support professionals in the developmental disabilities field. The three-year agreement will help improve the direct support professional workforce and address worker shortages.

SUNY Oneonta PRISM Conference Committee Seeking Sponsors

SUNY Oneonta’s Office of Equity & Inclusion invites departments and offices on campus to become co-sponsors for the annual PRISM Conference. Sponsors can assist with speaker costs, supplies, registration coverage and other conference expenses. Sponsors will be included on marketing materials and in the program booklet . Charges Brought In Andes Trespassing Incident

An investigation into an Andes trespassing incident last month results in a man facing charges. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office a man from Colchester cut a gate lock to gain access to a posted property after being previously told he was not allowed to be at the property.

Bovina Juvenile Charged With Vandalism

An 11-year-old is facing charges from multiple vandalism incidents in Bovina. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office an investigation determined the juvenile had painted graffiti in multiple areas around Bovina and at the town park. The juvenile is to appear at the Delaware County Probation Department at a later date.

SUNY Cobleskill Pool Closed For Repairs

SUNY Cobleskill’s Athletics Department has announced the closure of its campus pool for at least the full 2022-2023 academic year. Earlier this summer, the main water line to the pool fractured, and an emergency repair was completed. This revealed other mechanical and structural issues within and around the pool.
