Walton Man Drowns In Susquehanna River

A man from Walton drowned while canoeing Sunday on the Susquehanna River near Otego. Police say Brian M. Walley went around a bend and his canoe was spotted overturnned by other rowers. Walley’s body was located after a 5-hour search. An autopsy is being conducted.

NYS Fair Butter Sculpture Celebrates Title IX

The American Dairy Association announces the butter sculpture that will be at the Great New York State Fair pays tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Title IX. It showcases woman athletes from a child skier to a high school-aged gymnast to a college lacrosse player to an adult runner.

19th District Race Could Be Close

Voters head to the polls today for the state’s second primsary election and to choose who will complete the 19th District Congressional term formerly held by Antonio Delgado who is now Lieutenant Governor. Democrat Pat Ryan is running against Republican Marc Molinaro. Polls close at 9:00 p.m.

$500 Million Awarded to New York State To Support Small Businesses

New York receives over $500 million in federal funds through the State Small Business Credit Initiative to support programs for small businesses. Officials say the emphasis is on those still struggling from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and helping traditionally disadvantaged small businesses succeed in the post pandemic economy.

West St. Paving To Resume Today

City of Oneonta contractors will resume paving work today on West St. Work was suspended on Monday due to weather. West Street will be closed and driveways will be inaccessible during this time. Those requiring special needs will be accommodated as needed.

Teen Killed In Town Of Maryland Crash

A 17-year-old girl is killed in a one-car crash Sunday in the town of Maryland. Police say it happened on County Highway 42 when the girl left the highway and her car struck a tree. She died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
