SUNY Oneonta Holds New York State History and Education Conference

Next month SUNY Oneonta and the Cooperstown Graduate Program holds the first-even New York State History and Education Conference. The theme is “History Fights Back” and according to officials it will enable allow historians and educators of all backgrounds to make their voices heard and stand up for well-researched and inclusive historical narratives.

CCSO Holds Child Safety Car Seat Check Event

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a Child Safety Car Seat Event on September 24 at Visions Federal Credit Union from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Technicians will check for correct car seat installation, proper car seat fit for your child and expired/damaged car seats.

Food Shelf at Hunt College Union Needs Donations

SUNY Oneonta’s Food Shelf at Hunt College Union is in need of non-perishable food donations. Research finds that 19% of SUNY Oneonta students had low, or very low food security. Donations can be dropped off at the collection bin at the HUB or at the Netzer Administration Building.

Green Out As Commerce Chenango President & CEO

Kerri Green is out as Commerce Chenango’s President and CEO. Green joined Commerce Chenango 3 years ago. According to the Evening Sun the board already started the process to find Green’s successor and applications are being accepted until Sept. 24. The board doesn’t plan to hire an interim president and CEO.

Schoharie Limo Crash Plea Deal Rejected

Davenport Man Charged With Unlawful Eviction

A Davenport landlord is charged with attempting to evict a tenant on 2 occasions, A Delaware County Sheriff’s Office investigation determined the man turned off the electricity and water to the tenant’s residence on Magyar Lane. The man has a future date in Davenport Town Court.

Lemonade Stand Fundraiser On Saturday

Walton resident Richelle Wood is operating a lemonade stand on Saturday as a fundraiser for the e Delaware County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. The stand will be open from 11am -3:30pm at 3870 Finch Hollow Road. Proceeds will also go to a a local family which suffered a hardship.

Several Hunting Seasons To Start Soon

State Department of Environmental Conservation announced several hunting seasons will soon open. Squirrel and Canada goose hunting begins tomorrow with early bear and antlerless deer seasons starting Sept. 10 in certain wildlife management units. Antlerless deer hunting runs through Sept. 18 in select areas.

SUNY Delhi Holding Turf Field Ribbon Cutting Tomorrow

SUNY Delhi holds a ribbon-cutting and naming ceremony for the brand-new athletic turf field on campus tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. The will be named after Neil Riddell a SUNY Delhi alum and lead donor for the construction of the field. Mr. Riddell graduated from SUNY Delhi with a degree in business in 1962.
