Masks No Longer Required On Public Transportation

Mask wearing is no longer mandated by the state on public transportation. Gov. Kathy Hochul says mask wearing is still encouraged but it’s not clear if individual agencies can still require masks. Masks are still required in health care settings including hospitals and nursing homes.

Extra Caution Today As Kids Head Back To School

Oneonta Police remind drivers and pedestrians to be extra cautious as kids head back to school today. You’re asked to give yourself extra time in anticipation of delays. Passing a stopped school bus with red lights engaged is a violation of the State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Fall Foliage Reports Return Next Week

New York’s 2022 fall foliage and travel season is under way and the I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Reports return September 14. The weekly reports are compiled on Wednesdays using the on-location field observations from more than 85 volunteer leaf spotters throughout the state’s 11 vacation regions.

Chenango County Habitat For Humanity Holding Yard Sale

Chenango County Habitat For Humanity is holding a Yard Sale September 15 to September 17, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. According to the Evening Sun it will be at 16 North Canal Street in Oxford. There will be housewares old and new, collectibles, crafts, and everything in between. Proceeds benefit the non-profit.

COVID-19 Levels Increasing In Chenango County

The Chenango County Health Department is advising residents of an increase in levels of COVID-in wastewater testing surveillance data over the past two weeks. As a result the county’s COVID-19 risk rating is now at high. Officials say they are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 trend.

Fire Damages Bainbridge Business

A fire broke out Monday evening at Auto Plus on Front St. in Bainbridge. Reinforcements were called in from 9 other companies to aid Bainbridge firefighters and the fire was contained to the structure’s interior. No injuries were reported and the fire’s cause is under investigation

CCSO Makes Donation To Norwich Nonprofit

The Union members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office presented a $1,000 donation to “The Place” in Norwich to help the nonprofit provide school supplies for the children of Chenango County. Last week Sheriff’s Office personnel stopped by the charity to drop off backpacks for the kids.

Davenport Man Sentenced On Federal Child Porn Charges

It’s 25 years in jail for a Davenport man taking a plea deal to sexually exploiting a child and distributing and possessing child pornography. Prosecutors say Jeremie Hoyt will be on a 30-year term of supervised release when he is released from jail.
