CWC Approves Funding for Many Projects

The Catskill Watershed Corporation provides funding for projects in Delaware and 2 other counties under the Septic Repair and Replacement Program. A total of 27 homeowners in the 3 counties received reimbursement grants. A grant was also approved to flood proof a Main Street structure in the Village of Walton.

Hamden Man Charged In DV Incident

A man from Hamden is facing charges from a domestic dispute last Saturday. A Delaware County Sheriff’s investigation determined the man violated an order of protection and physically obstructed an officer trying to arrest him. The man was jailed on $40,000 cash bail or $80,000 in secured bonds.

Susquehanna SPCA Holding Adoption Event

The Susquehanna SPCA is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society for an animal adoption campaign. On Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17 dog adoption fees will be reduced by $50 and cat adoption fees will have a $20 reduction. Visit sqspca.org for details and to see available dogs and cats.

OPT No Longer Requiring Mask Wearing

Oneonta Public Transit officials announce it is no longer requiring mask wearing on city buses but mask wearing is still recommended. On Wednesday Gov. Kathy Hochul lifted the statewide mask wearing mandate on public transportation. Masks are still required in health care settings including hospitals and nursing homes.

$35 Million Available for Permanent Supportive Housing Projects

New York makes $35 million available to provide supportive services for affordable housing projects. The funding will help cover operating expenses for 1,400 units of permanent supportive housing to help reduce housing instability among vulnerable populations. Funding may be used for rental assistance and services to eligible target populations.

Solomon Departs Friends Of Rogers

The Friends of Rogers in Sherburne bids farewell to executive director Simon Solomon. The Evening Sun reports Solomon departed in August after nearly 10 years with the nonprofit. The Board of Directors honored Solomon by placing a plaque in the newly remodeled visitors center recognizing him as the organization’s first Executive Director.

Farm Worker OT Threshold Lowered

The New York Farm Laborers Wage Board votes to change the hour limit where farm workers start receiving overtime.from 60 hours to 40 hours. The New York Farm Bureay is one of several organizations against the change and is calling on State Department of Labor Commissioner Roberta Reardon to reject the decision.

NYers In Favor Of Student Load Forgiveness

A Siena College poll finds nearly 6 in 10 New Yorkers supports the student loan forgiveness plan announced by President Joe Biden last month. One-third of respondents are aganst the plan to forgive up to $20,000 in student loan debt. The poll, was conducted between Aug. 28 and Sept. 1.
