State officials warnabout new scams resulting from President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program. The scammers claim to be facilitatiors in the loan forgiveness process but in reality they’re just trying to get personal information. Some scammers ask for an upfront payment to get the debt forgiven.

Hamden Woman Charged With Child Abuse

A Delaware County Sheriff’s Office child abuse investigation leads to charges filed against a Hamden woman. The investigation determined she struck a juvenile, causing bruising on the skin. The woman was taken into custody, arraigned for Endangering the Welfare of a Child then released on her own recognizance.

NY Expands Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program

New York expands and simplifies access to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program giving incentive to public service work by canceling a portion of a borrowers’ federal student loans. It requires recipients to be full-time employees of an eligible public service employer, as well as make 120 qualifying payments towards their student loan.

CCSO Warns Of New Phone Scam

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office warns of a phone scam where the callers identify themselves as Sheriff’s Office personnel and tell people there is an active arrest warrant and it can be resolved by paying with gift cards. Sheriff’s Office personnel will never call to request money or gift cards for any criminal matters.

Phone Registration Opens Tomorrow For DelCo Clean Sweep Days

Starting tomorrow Delaware County residents can register by phone for the upcoming Clean Sweep Days hazardous waste disposal event. CCHS and DAR to celebrate Constitution Day during Museum Day

The Chenango County Historical Society and the James Madison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution commemorate “Constitution Day” with themed activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. It’s also Museum Day which is a nationwide annual celebration organized by Smithsonian Magazine which CCHS observes each year.

Susquehanna SPCA Holding Adoption Event

An audit of 5 New York agencies by State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office finds there is a need to improve promoting financial literacy.
