Funding Available To Mitigate Climate Change And Disaster Planning

New York agencies, counties, cities, towns, villages and tribal governments can now apply for new funding to boost resiliency and mitigate the effects of climate change. FEMA is providing $2.3 billion nationwide through the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant program and up to $800 million through the Flood Mitigation Assistance grant program.

SUNY Oneonta Employees Asked To Familiarize Themselves With Suicide Prevention Resources

SUNY Oneonta officials ask all college employees to familiarize themselves with the Counseling Center’s Suicide Prevention resources. They worked with students to create a suicide awareness video and a website with suicide prevention resources for faculty, staff and students. Car Seat Safety Check Wednesday In Stamford

The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee is sponsoring a Car Seat Check on Wednesday at the Kiddie Corner Preschool on Main St. in Stamford from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Technicians will check for correct car seat installation, proper car seat fit for your child and expired/damaged car seats.

I-88 Ramp To Close Wednesday Morning

A heads up if you need to use the ramp from Interstate 88 Westbound to Interstate 81 Northbound on Wednesday. The Department of Transportation will close the ramp from 9:00 a.m. to noon for overhead sign inspection. A signed detour will be in place. The work is weather-dependent.

Animals Rescued From Butternuts Farm

Nearly 20 horses are among the animals rescued Friday from a Town of Butternuts farm. According to the Otsego County Sheriff’s office they also removed two pigs, a llama, a donkey and a cat. The Susquehanna SPCA is caring for the animals and is in need of hay and water buckets.

Public Meeting On State Route 8 Project Is Sept. 28

The DOT is holding a public information meeting about an upcoming road widening project on State Roue 8 in Norwich, New Berlin and Columbus. The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Unadilla Valley Central School District on State Highway 8 in New Berlin.

DCSO Investigating Trailer Theft

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a Keystone Ultralite 30′ camper trailer from a Case Hill Road residence in the Town of Franklin. A photo of the actual trailer is on the department’s Facebook page. Contact deputies if you have information on the theft.

GOHS Unveils SUNY Oneonta Exhibit

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society unveiled its exhibit entitled “Town & Gown: SUNY Oneonta and the Local Community, Past and Present”. The exhibit is located at the Oneonta History Center’s at 183 Main Street. You can see it during regular museum hours until November 12th.
