Active Shooter Drill Held At Oneonta Job Corps

4 law enforcement agencies participated in a Lockdown/Active Shooter Drill at Oneonta Job Corps on Sept. 7th. Safety Officer Mike Ten Eyck says the drill helps first responders familiarize themselves with the location as well as with other agencies, who would be working together in the event of a major emergency and police response.

Drnek Orders City Charter Review

Oneonta Mayor Mark Drnek announces the creation of a committee to review the city charter. Drnek says there are passages that are vague and contestable and others, however well intended compromises the city’s ability to be nimble and efficient. Drnek says he would like the review finished by the end of the year.

Stamford Business Fails Underage Alcohol Compliance Check

New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in Delaware County on September 13. 12 establishments were checked with one in Stamford not in compliance. The employee at that businesses selling alcohol to the minor was ticketed. Plain-clothed troopers accompany minors on the compliance checks.

Otego Woman Killed In Crash

A woman from Otego is killed in a one-car crash on County Highway 7. According to State Police the woman’s car left the highway and struck a tree. The woman was pronounced dead at A.O. Fox Hospital. She was the car’s only occupant. The crash is being investigated.

OPD Reminds Drivers To Slow Down

Oneonta Police remind everyone that school is back in session and drivers need to slow down. School buses are picking up their passengers, kids are on foot and on bikes are hurrying to get to school before the bell rings, and parents are trying to drop their kids off before work.

GOHS Holds History After Hours

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society kicks off its new monthly History After Hours series of events. It offers a variety of events for adults and children of all ages at the Oneonta History Center from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Today’s event celebrates Harvest History. The events are free and open to the public.

Man Charged In Stamford Domestic Dispute

A domestic dispute investigation un Stamford results in a man facing charges. According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office the man from Hobart had unwanted physical contact with a woman and also took her phone out of her hand and threw it damaging the device. He is free on his own recognizance.

Greene Apple Fest Is Saturday

The Village of Greene’s 35th annual Apple Fest is this Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Greene Ball Flats Park. It is sponsored by First United Methodist Church and organizers say there will be something for the whole family including a free kids zone, entertainment and crafters.
