DCHA Receives Pomeroy Fund Grant

The Delaware County Historical Association receives a $5,000 grant from the Pomeroy Fund which is a partnership between the William G. Pomeroy Foundation® and the Museum Association of New York. The grant will fund a new in-person adult letter transcription workshop on reading and understanding 18th and 19th-century handwriting.

Cooperstown Bans Smoking On Main St Sidewalks

Smoking or vaping on Cooperstown’s Main Street sidewalks is now prohibited. All Otsego reports the Board of Trustees voted to enact the ban after a public hearing where 2 people spoke. Violators could be fined up to $100.00.

Oberacker Holds Meet & Greet Tomorrow

State Senator Peter Oberacker is holding a meet-and-greet tomorrow from 6:30 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at the Chenango Republican office on East Main Street in Norwich. The Evening Sun reports refreshments will be served including cider, donuts, and more. Oberacker is currently finishing his first term as 51st District State Senator.

Delhi Police Warm Of Possible Text Scam

Delhi Police report people are receiving text messages offering Department hoodies for $10. The department is not affiliated with these unsolicited offers and is not selling merchandise. Authorities say the offers could be a scam to collect personal information.

Harassment Call Leads To Texas Fugitive Arrest

A harrassment call in Walton ends up with a fugitive from Texas taken into custody. Police say the man was wanted in Harris County for aggravated assault. He was booked into the Delaware County Jail pendingt a future court appearance.

SP Investigates Chenango County Shooting

State Police continue to investigate a Chenango County shooting last Friday. According to the Evening Sun troopers responded to Chenango Memorial Hospital and located a woman being treated for an apparent gun shot wound. There’s no word on where the shooting happened or if a suspect was identified.

Unemployment Rates Down Across NY

The State Department of Labor today released preliminary local area unemployment rates for September. Otsego County’s rate is 2.8% and in Chenango County it’s 2.7%. Delaware County is at 3.1%. The statewide rate is 4.3%. All were lower than in August.
