Teddy Bear Clinic Returns to UHS Delaware Valley Hospital

UHS Delaware Valley Hospital staff members welcomed approximately 150 third-graders to its Teddy Bear Clinic. It helps reduce potential anxiety by having them become familiar with the equipment used in their care. Each student received fruit snacks and a backpack with a coloring book, crayons and a frisbee.

Proposals Sought For Journal of the CCHS

The Chenango County Historical Society is accepting proposals to create and design the next three issues of its annual journal publication. A complete request for proposals can be found at ChenangoHistorical.org/RFP. Proposals are due by December 20 and the next issue is to be publkished in June 2023.

Medicare Savings Program Limits Increasing

Beginning in January more New Yorkers will be eligible for an increased income limit through the Medicare Savings Program. Officials say it will help older adults and individuals with disabilities save an average of $7,000 annually in health care costs. Application deadline in Dec. 7.

Child Killed In Plainfield SUV Crash

A town of Plainfield SUV crash results in a 3-year-old’s death. Police say it happened on Frost Hill Road when the SUV went off the roadway, struck an embankment and partially overturned. Two adults and four other children were hospitalized. The crash remains under investigation.

Sidewalk & Stop Bar Markings Work In Oneonta

A contractor working for the City of Oneonta will be painting sidewalks and stop bars at various locations from now until the end of next week. Drivers are asked to use caution and pay attention to flaggers as well as temporary traffic control devices.

OCSO & DOT Conduct Enforcement Detail

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office and the State Department of Transportation Commercial Vehicle Unit conducted an enforcement detail in the Town of Oneonta on Thursday. 16 violations were identified and one commercial vehicle was taken out of service. The detail’s exact location wasn’t disclosed.

NY Creates Plan to Aid Those With Developmental Disabilities

The State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities completed a five-year strategic plan to help strengthen supports and services. It was developed over the course of 18 months with input from stakeholders. The Plan identifies and organizes agency priorities to guide the delivery of services over the next half-decade.

Woman Killed In Greene Crash

A woman is killed in a two-car crash in the Town of Greene. State Police say she was heading south on State Highway 12 when she went into the northbound lanes and hit an oncoming vehicle. She died at the scene and the other driver had non-life-threatening injuries.

New York Food for New York Families Applications Accepted

The State Department of Agriculture and Markets is now accepting applications for its New York Food for New York Families program. Its goals are to establish and broaden partnerships between farmers and producers, food distribution and food networks. Nonprofits, agricultural cooperatives, tribal organizations, public educational institutions and municipalities can apply.
