Schoharie County Man Charged With Felony Child Assault

A man from Schoharie County faces a felony charge for assaulting a child. State Police say they were called to an Albany hospital about an injured infant and an investigation resulted in the man’s arrest. He was jailed on $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

Oberacker Winning Re-Election Bid

State Senator Peter Oberacker is ahead in his bid for re-election according to early election returns. Oberacker succeeded long-time senator James Seward in 2020. Voters are also approving Proposal 1 authorizing issuing $4.2 billion in bonds to finance climate change mitigation projects.

Hochul Et. al Win Re-Election Bids

Unofficial election returns show U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Leticia James and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli all hold leads in their re-election bids. The 19th District Congressional race between Josh Riley and Marc Molinaro is too close to call.

Suspects Sought in Credit Card Theft

State Police are looking for tips to identify the suspects in a January credit card theft where the cards were used at the Oneonta Walmart. Some purchases were declined but one did go through. Suspect photos are posted at the State Police Facebook page.

Storm Sewer Replacement – Dead end section of Bronk St

A contractor working for the City of Oneonta is replacing the storm sewer pipe on the dead end section of Bronk St. Work runs from today for the next 2 weeks between 7:00am and 5:00pm. Bronk St will be closed from Richmond Ave to the dead end and open to local traffic only.

Funding Available For Nonprofits To Protect Against Hate Crimes

New York allocates nearly $100 million to increase safety for nonprofit, community-based organizations that at risk of hate crimes. Grants of up to $50,000 are available for increasing security at the organizations’ facilities. The program is managed by the Division of Criminal Justice Services.
