SUNY Oneonta’s 2022 Life of the Mind Showcase will be on display Wednesday from 12–5pm and Thursday from 8am–5pm in Morris Conference Center. Life of the Mind spotlights the varied contributions made by faculty and staff to the intellectual life of the campus community and beyond.

Rabies Cases Reported In Norwich

Chenango County oifficials report several rabies cases were recently identified in skunks wthin Norwich city limits. So far no other species have been infected. Any aimal showing erratic behavior in close proximity to residential areas should be considered dangerous.

NY Makes Investment To Attract Climate Change Protection Companies

New York will invest $3.7 million to bring climate technology, manufacturing and products to the state. According to Governoir Kathy Hochul’s office the investment will connect startups trying to scale goods that lower greenhouse gases or reduce the consumption of energy with the local partners to help make that possible.

CDO Workforce Conducting Civis Service Workshop

CDO Workforce is conducting a workshop about civil service at 2:00 p.m. this Thursday at its office on Dietz St. in Oneonta. Representatives from the state and the city of Oneonta will show how to navigate the mysteries of Civil Service to help land a public sector career.

GOHS History After Hours Is Thursday

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society holds this month’s History After Hours event this Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Oneonta History Center on Main Street. The event celebrates Holiday History and features many activities including photo opportunities, ornament making and demonstrations.

Area Animal Shelters Receive State Grants

The Susquehanna SPCA and the Super Heroes Humane Society receive grants from the fourth round of the New York State Companion Animal Capital Fund. The funding will support construction, renovation and expansion projects that will provide animal care. A total of $5 million was awarded statewide.

SUNY Cobleskill Conducting Reforestation Project

Over 150 trees are planted at the SUNY Cobleskill campus as part of a reforestation effort by students, faculty, and staff. Officials say it is the beginning of a decade-long project with 900 more trees to be planted this month. The goal is to plant 10,000 new trees.

‘Salute to Veterans’ Concert

Hartwick man charged

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office report a 42 year old Hartwick man was arrested on several charges, including felonies. Dominick Smith was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, petit larceny, criminal obstruction of breathing and second-degree harassment.
