CCTV Cleaning Work Underway In Ineonta

A City of Oneonta contractor is performing heavy cleaning and closed-circuit TV inspection work of sanitary and storm sewer mains along portions of River Street between Main Street and Burnside Avenue and along Ann Street from River Street to the end. Traffic will be restricted during the work hours.

Goodier Receives Richard Siegfried Junior Faculty Prize

SUNY Oneonta Assistant professor of history Dr. Susan Goodier received the annual Richard Siegfried Junior Faculty Prize for Academic Excellence. Dr. Goodier will deliver this year’s Richard Siegfried Lecture on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Morris Conference Center. The prize includes a $2,000 award.

4 Charged In Norwich Assault

4 people are facing charges from an assault last Saturday in Norwich. The Evening Sun reports one suspect used a baseball bat after a drug dispute inside a garage went bad. The victin tried to escape but was dragged back into the building and beaten for a prolonged period.

NY Makes Installing EV Chargers On Private Property Easier

The state is making it easier for electric vehicle charging stations to be installed on private property. The legislation prevent homeowners’ associations from prohibiting charging stations on residents’ property while also allowing the associations to provide input on the installation process.

NYSREDC Awartds Round 7 Funding

The New York Regional Economic Development Council arawds more than $68 million in grants from Round 7 of its awards. The funding includes core capital grant and tax-credit funding made available on a continuous and competitive basis. 74 projects statewide received awards.

Fleeing Driver Caught By K-9 Team

A woman is charged after crashing her car in the Town of Middlefield then leaving the scene on foot. Police say it happened in the area of Springfield Hill Road. A K-9 team found the woman a short distance from the accident.

Gingerbread Jubilee and The Festival of Trees Is Friday & Saturday

Join Destination Oneonta at the Foothills Performing Arts Center for two of its annual events in one location and time. The Gingerbread Jubilee is their gingerbread contest and will be held with the Festival of Trees which is in collaboration with the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce. The events are this Friday and Saturday.

Downsville SD Audited For Claims Payments

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli’s office audited the Downsville School District to determine if claims were properly audited before payment. Auditors reviewed 150 claims packets totaling $870,798 and found a majority were not properly audited. DiNapoli’s office recommended msaking sure all claims contain sufficient supporting documentation before approving them for payment.

NY Awards Arts & Organization Grants

New York awards nearly $45 million in grants to artists and organizations from the latest rounds of funding from the State Council on the Arts. These grants will be distributed to over 1,200 arts organizations and 426 artists across the state. 27 grants were awarded in the Mohawk Valley region which includes Otsego County.
