New VA Clinic In Oneonta Opening Tuesday

The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs clinic at the FoxCare Center in Oneonta officially opens on Tuesday. It was moved from Bainbridge after a VA study determined the relocation would make it easier for veterans to obtain services. An official grand opening is being scheduled.

Rullo Named DCMO BOCES Superintendent

Michael Rullo is named superintendent of DCMO BOCES after a 10-month-long search. He succeeds Perry T. Dewey, III who retired last June. Rullo was superintendent of Harpursville Central schools. He will begin his new duties this February.

First Night Oneonta Rebrands

First Night Oneonta is back for 2022 with a new name. All Otsego reports the event is now called “Hill City Celebrations” and is now in collaboration with the Otsego County Chamber of Commerce. The change reflects the year-round events and activities organized for the community.

Home For The Holidays Parade Is Thursday

Oneonta’s Home for the Holidays Parade will now be this Thursday starting at 5:00 p.m. According to Destination Oneonta it was to have been last Saturday but was postponed because of expected bad weather. The tree lighting ceremony will be immediately following the parade.

NYSP Issue Over 14k Tickets During Thanksgiving Enforcement

State Police issued more than 14,000 tickets during this year’s Thanksgiving traffic enforcement initiative. Troopers arrested 213 people for driving while impaired and investigated 927 crashes, three of which included fatalities. The special traffic enforcement program is funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

NYSP Add Area Trooper To Wall Of Honor

New York State Police pay tribute to a Trooper killed in a Bainbridge vehicle accident in 1927. Trooper Ernest M. Simpson’s name was added to the agency’s Wall of Honor on Thursday. Simpson’s vehicle was struck at the intersection of South Main and West Main Streets.

Hartwick Gets $500k Grant For STEM

Hartwick College receives a half-million-dollar grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to promote education in science, technology, engineering and math – also known as STEM. Hartwick officials say the grant allows the college to increase opportunities that promote success for all students, particularly those belonging to historically excluded groups.

Delhi Holiday Parade Is Today

The Greater Delhi Area Chamber of Commerce holds its Holiday Parade today at 5:30 p.m. The parade will go from SUNY Delhi to the Square where Santa and Mrs. Claus will be following the parade. The Christmas tree lighting follows at 6:00 p.m.
