The Otsego County Department of Health is holding a free rabies clinic today for cats, dogs and ferrets at Hartwick Fire Dept. Co. #2 on State Hwy. 28 in Cooperstown from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Bring your pet’s vaccine certificate for them to receive a booster.

RSO From Middlefield Jailed On Multiple Charges

A registered sex offender from the Town of Middlefield is charged with failing to update his address and also with Grand Larceny for not doing promised motorcycles repair work and not returning the bikes to their owners. He’s jailed on $2,500 cash bail or $25,000 bond.

December Is STOP-DWI Month

Governor Kathy Hochul proclaims December as STOP-DWI Month and announced a series of targeted initiatives to prevent impaired driving. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and and STOP-DWI will also sponsor the ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ impaired driving enforcement campaign from December 15 to January 1.

Regulation to Protect Consumers Who Relied on Incorrect Provider Network Information

The State Department of Financial Services adopts a regulation to protect consumers from unfair, surprise costs when they relied on incorrect information in their insurer’s healthcare provider directory. Consumers who use providers they believe are in-network based on misinformation provided by their insurers will pay no more than their in-network cost-sharing.

SUNY Oneonta Campaign Surpasses $28.5 Million, Student Emergency Fund Leads the Way

Through the generous support of donors to SUNY Oneonta’s “Grow. Thrive. Live” fundraising campaign, the college’s Student Emergency Fund is now fully endowed with gifts, grants, and pledges totaling over $1 million. Around $50,000 will be available annually for students facing unforeseen emergencies that could derail their educations.

Fatal Car-Pedestrian Collision Near Rexford Falls

A car-pedestrian collision Monday near near Rexford Falls results in the death of a 30-year-old woman. Police say it happened on State Highway 80 and the woman identified as Megan E. Mikalunas of North Norwich was wearing dark clothes and standing in the road. She died at the scene.

Man Charged In DRC Sexual Contact Incidents

A 70-year-old man faces charges from a Delaware County Sheriff’s investigation into forcible touching incidents involving women at the Delhi Rehabilitation Center. The department found the man subjected another resident and a staff member to unwanted sexual contact. The man was booked then released pending a future court date.

NY Toughens Telemarketer Requirements

New York has new laws affecting telemarketing calls. Customers now can tell callers to put them on the do-not-call list at the beginning of their conversations. Under the previous law telemarketers were required offer the option but not at a specific part of the call.

GOHS Gets State Grant

The Greater Oneonta Historical Society received a $49,500 state grant which will help pay the salary of Executive Director Dr. Marcela Micucci. Board of Trustees President Kim Back said they look forward to Dr. Micucci continuing to help further advance their mission and serve the community.

S-E Residents To Vote On Capital Project

Next Tuesday voters in the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District will decide on approving a $29 million capital project for improvements at the elementary and middle/high schools and renovations at Marauder Stadium. The vote will be from noon until 8:00 p.m. at the middle/high school auditorium.
