Man Charged In Unadilla Assault

A man from Sidney is charged with felony assault for hitting a victim several times with a piece of cookware. State Police say it happened at a Town of Unadilla residence and the victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The man was found with help from Sidney Police.

NYSP Participating In ‘Drive High Get a DUI’ Campaign

State Police will participate in the “Drive High Get a DUI” national campaign to crack down on impaired and reckless driving this holiday season. It starts today and runs through New Year’s Day. Drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints along with more Troopers on roadways.

NY Gets More HEAP Funding

New York received an additional $63 million in federal funding for its Home Energy Assistance Program. The money will go to increase the base home heating assistance eligible households will receive. New York has received more than $412 million for the program this year up from $387 million in 2021.

ConnectALL Office Gets $7 Million in Federal Grants

The state ConnectALL office receives $7.2 million in federal funding to engage New Yorkers to produce comprehensive broadband deployment and digital equity plans. It will provide the roadmap for the state’s utilization of Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act funds to close New York State’s digital divide.

Man Sentenced In 2021 Cobleskill Murder

It’s 25 years to life in jail for the man convicted in a 2021 Cobleskill murder. The Times-Journal reports Raymond George was sentenced last week for driving his car into James Williams as he sat outside a room at the Colonial Motel. A jury found George guilty in September.

NYSP Holding Car Seat Safety Check On Dec. 19

State Police will conduct a car child seat check event at the Deposit Central School Bus Garage on Second Street from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December 19. Technicians will install, inspect and/or check your child car seats for free. Walk-insw are welcome but appointments are preferred.

NY Enacts New Gift Card Laws

New York enacts new laws to protect credit and gift card holders. It prohibits gift card fees and limits expiration dates plus prohibits issuers from deducting card value for non-use. Newly purchased cards are required to be valid for a minimum of 9 years.

Man Charged In Middlenurgh Altercation

A man is charged in an altercation at Stewarts in Middlebugh. State Police say the man got into a verbal altercation with the victim then pulled a knife and threatened to use it on them. The man was caught after being stopped in Cobleskill last week.

OPT Making Ticket Window Service Change

Oneonta Public Transit is making a ticket window service change beginning December 19. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and there will be no Saturday hours. The lobby will remain open with access to the ticket vending machine.

NYFB Holds Annual Meeting

New York Farm Bureau delegates approved a new set of public policies to support state agriculture at last week’s 66th State Annual Meeting. More than 100 delegates representing nearly 52 county Farm Bureaus voted on public policy positions plus elected new officers and board members to lead the organization.
