New York now has a Green Purchasing Communities program to make it easy for local governments to ensure that the products they are purchasing have a lower environmental impact. Local governments that participate will receive recognition for their commitment to purchasing green products and services.

OOP Violation Lands Man In Jail

A criminal contempt charge is brought in a Delaware County order of protection violation. Police say the man was served with the order last month but tried to contact the victim electronically. He is jailed on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.

SQSPCA Seeks Help Reaching Fundraising Goal

The Susquehanna SPCA is in the final days of the “Promise for Parkie ” challege with the goal of raising $100,000 to receive an additional $25,000 from Beth and Gary Glynn. According to a news release the campaign has reached half of its goal and ends December 31.

Sewer Cleaning In Oneonta On Wed. & Thu.

The City of Oneonta is conducting cleaning and inspection work of sanitary and storm sewer mains on Wednesday and Thursday along portions of River Street between Burnside Avenue and Wilcox Avenue. There will be one-lane traffic in those areas as work is being completed.

The Hamden Hill Ridge Riders remind snowmobilers that trails do not open until after January 1st. Hunting season is still open and the organization asks riders to respect those rules and the landowners that allow riding on their property.

Roseboom Man Charged In 2020 DV Incident

A man from Roseboom is arraigned on charges from a domestic violence incident in 2020. Police say an investigation resulted in the man being charged with second-degree strangulation and third degree assault. He appeared at Otsego County Central Arraignment and was released on his own recognizance.

NY Bans Animal Cosmetics Testing

New York bans the sale of makeup items that are tested on animals. Officials say with the increasing availability of non-animal test methods and thousands of existing ingredients, there is no excuse to continue harming animals. New York is the tenth state to pass a law against animal testing.

NY Creates Blue Alert System

Stopping violent crimes against law enforcement is the goal of New York’s new ‘Blue Alert System’. Officials say it will help to identify, locate and apprehend individuals suspecting of killing or seriously wounding a police officer. It will release information on violent crimes against police and keep the public safe.

Man Charged in Unadilla Stalking

A trespassing complaint in the village of Unadilla leads to a 19-year-old facing charges, Police say the suspect was located at the complainant’s home and an investigation found he had been continually trying to contact and see the resident. He was booked and released pending a future court date.
