Flu Cases On The Rise In Otsego County

Flu cases are on the rise in Otsego County and the Department of Health reports The Otsego County Department of Health announced the count since October is nearly double the total from last year. Close to 20% of cases are in children.

NY Ag Coalition Calls for UI Action

A coalition of nine agricultural organizations ask Gov. Kathy Hochul to address issues with the Unemployment Insurance Fund which the coalition says is costing farms and other businesses in the billions of dollars. The group wants Hochul to to address the state’s outstanding UI debt and to offset assessment charges.

Fire Damages Unadilla Home

Unadilla firefighters were called to Buckhorn Lake Road and State Highway 7 for a house blaze. The fire was in the back of the home’s second story and crews from 5 other department assisted in getting the fire out. Unadilla firefighters remained on the scene until early Tuesday.

SNAP Recipients To Get Additional Food Assistance

Those enrolled in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for December. Households already receiving the maximum monthly benefit, and those that had been receiving an emergency allotment will receive a supplemental payment of at least $95.

Otego Man Charged In Child Sexual Abuse Investigation

A man from Otego is apprehended in a State Police investigation into sexual abuse of a child under 13 on multiple occasions. The man is charged with predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.He’s held on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Cooperstown Elementary Bomb Threat Found To Be False

Police responded to Cooperstown Elementary School after dismissal on Monday on a reported bomb threat. Investiugators say the threat was found attached to a tree in Hartwick and is believed to have been made by a juvenile. No credible threat was found.

Roxbury Gets State Grant For Kirkside Inn Project

The Town of Roxbury receives a Restore New York Communities Initiative grant for its Inn at Kirkside project. In addition to lodging and a restaurant the estate will have an educational program that provides experiential learning to aspiring professionals in the hospitality and tourism industries.

Unemployment Holds Steady In November

New York’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in November at 4.3%. The labor force participation rate was also unchanged at 60.5%. Unemployment in Chenango and Otsego Counties last month was 2.7% and it was 2.9% in Delaware Coiunty. The national unemployment rate for November was 3.7%.
