Arrest Made In Greene Burglary

A burglary investigation in the Town of Greene results in nearly $40,000 of property recovered and a man in custody. Police say the man and an accomplice took the items from a building on private property. The items were seized at the man’s Port Crane home.

Fire Damages Norwich Church

A fire broke out Tuesday morning in the basement of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Norwich. The Evening Sun reports reinforcements were called in to help Norwich firefighters get the fire out. No injuries were reported and the nearby Holy Family School was not directly impacted.

AHA & ARC Encouraging Learning CPR

The American Heart Association and American Red Cross are encouraging people to learn CPR after Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during Monday Night Football. Cardiologists said Hamlin could have died on the football field without CPR and an automated external defibrillator.

Search Underway For Missing Davenport Man

State Police are searching for a Davenport man who’s been missing since just before Christmas. Investigators say 78-year-old Theodore Sikora was last seen at a local gas station. Sikora does not have a cell phone. His photo is on the State Police social media accounts.

Otsego County ES Says Stay Off The Ice

Otsego County Emergebncy Services is warning that even with the recent colod snap the ice on lakes, ponds and rivers is still very thin and should not be walked on. Officials say the ice on Canadarago Lake isn’t expected to get thick enough for fishing for at least a couple more weeks.

Schenevus Schools Names Interim Superintendent

Former Schenevus Central School District superintendent Edmund Shultis comes out of retirement to serve as interim superintendent. This comes after superintendent Theresa Carlin resigned last week after 4 years with the district. Shultis will serve on a month-to-month basis while a search is conducted for Carlin’s permanent replacement.

Oneonta Business Gets CDBG Funding

Otsego Now annnounces a Town of Oneonta business is awarded a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant to help the company expand operations. The grant for Ioxus will cover expenses such as equipment, testing, supplies and materials. 30 new full-time jobs are projected to result from the expansion.

Public Hearing Set For Cooperstown Housing Development Proposal

The Cooperstown Board of Trustees hears a pitch from a developer for Bassett Healthcrae Network for an employee housing development. According to All Otsego it would have a 24-unit apartment building and 12 townhomes to be located on Averill Road. Apublic hearing takes place tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
